Start up Spotlight – ingage

In the run up to this year’s edition of FinTech Connect Live (December 6-7, ExCeL London), we spoke to some of the innovative start ups taking part, to provide you with a snapshot of information into who they are, what they do, and where they are taking it.

In no more than 50 words describe what you do: ingage is a dedicated electronic marketplace and Investor Relations (IR) software platform which directly connects quoted corporates and institutional investors.

The ingage platform was specifically designed for new regulatory requirements such as MiFID II to provide a best-in-class enterprise solution for corporate access.


How did the idea for the business originate? I spent 18 years in the industry, corporate access was a key part of my day-to-day role. I became increasingly frustrated with how the system wasn’t working: costs, inefficiencies, conflicts, lack of any sort of technology or innovation. I had a clear idea how to significantly improve the process – and regulatory intervention was the catalyst for me to put the plan into action. 


Do you have customers yet? If not, how far into your business lifecycle are you? We have 24 paying, enterprise customers, including some of the world’s largest institutional investors and quoted companies, such as Schroder Investment Management, National Grid PLC and Aegon NV.  


How have you funded your growth to date? Internally funded, both our own money and sales generation, and in addition we have raised £3.0m in equity capital from three friends-and-family EIS fund-raising rounds.  


What would a successful 2017 look like for you? Continued strong growth in adoption of our platform by quoted corporates and institutional investors.  


Outside of your own business, which start up do you admire the most and why? (Doesn’t have to be fintech) FundApps – because they have a simple model which is easy to explain and provides a great solution to a real problem – and they’ve been very successful.
